It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sylvia Julia Francis announces her sudden passing on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, at the age of 65, with her loving family by her side.

Born in Port aux Basques, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Jonas and Dulcie (nee Francis) Kettle. Sylvia leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter and best friend, Heather Francis, daughter at heart, Cavell Rossiter, her grandsons, Charles and Clayton Osmond, her loving partner, Patrick Burke and his children, Kenneth (Amanda) Burke, Patrick (Kim) Burke, and Kayla Burke (Andrea), and Nanny Sylvia to Ava, Ryder, Patrick and Kaden.

She also leaves to mourn sister, Sheila Best and brothers, Angus and Robert (Dianne) Kettle, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her, brother- in- law, Donald Best.

In keeping with Sylvia’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques on Thursday, December 8th, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, December 9th, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

The funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 10th from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Grand Bay with Rev. Faye Coffin officiating at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at a later date. Flowers accepted or donations in memory of Sylvia can be made to the Cancer Society or St. Paul’s Anglican Church.
