It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Alice Bernice Francis announce her passing at home on Friday, September 15th, 2023, at the age of 75. Born in Burnt Islands, Alice was the daughter of the late Ivy and Charles Chant.

Alice leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving Husband of 57 years Fred Francis, her children, Eugene (Yvonne) Francis, Pamela Francis, and Laura (Lou) Allen, daughter in law, Sharon Lace, her grandchildren, Cassandra (Adam) Spencer, James Pearce, Andrew (Mallory) Francis, Angela Francis (Chris Pink), Brittany (Robert) Watson, Austin Francis, Savanna Francis, Kaitlyn Osmond, and Emmauel Lawrence, great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Cody, Stacy, and Farrah. Alice will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Elizabeth Taylor, and Mable Savery, brother, Clyde (Daphne) Chant, and brothers and sisters in law, Janie Chant, Henry Keeping, Kelly (Betty) Keeping, Ethel Keeping, and Sheila Keeping, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Alice was predeceased by her children, Anthony Francis, and Michelle Pearce, father and mother-in-law, Clara and Peter Francis, brother, Ernest Chant, and brothers and sisters in law, Cecil Taylor, Carl Savery, Clarence Keeping, Edward Keeping, Susie (Sandy) Chant, Louise Keeping, and Ellen May Francis.

Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street on Monday, September 18th from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. In keeping with Alice’s wishes, cremation will follow and a funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 19th at 4:00 p.m. from St. Paul’s Anglican Church with Rev. Faye Coffin officiating, with interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Flowers graciously accepted, or donations in memory of Alice can be made to the family.
