It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ernest “Ern” John Keith Meade announce his passing at Western Memorial Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023, at the age of 73. Born in Fox Roost, Ern was the son of the late Clarence and Hazel (nee Walters) Meade.

A truly humorous man, his loves in life were on the water with his crewmates on Wally & Sisters or enjoying time with his son Ernie, on the Kraken and spending time with his family especially his grandkids and great grandkids.

Ern leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving wife and best friend of 53 years, Jane (nee Organ), his fur companion Midnight, his children, Arlene Meade (Dale Keeping), Tina (Dwayne) Vautier and Ernie (Debbie) Meade, his pride and joy grandchildren, Cassandra (Clinton), Colton (Jenny), Tiffany (Billy Osmond), Megan (Allan) Howell, Patrick (Leigha) and Tyson, his great grandchildren, Sasha, Parker, Henry, Alice, Clara and Kacey.

Ern also leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters, Gordon, Margaret (Hubert) Harvey, Clar (Marion), Don (Ida) and Terry (Maggie), brothers and sisters-in-laws, Vera (Bill) Francis, Eileen (Ray) Hodder, Jim (Wanda) Organ, Irene (Wilfred) Osmond, Evelyn Blackmore, Colleen Organ, and Gerald Vautier, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Ern was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Jim Organ, sisters, Loretta Vautier Joan (Eldon) Harvey, brothers, Lloyd Meade, sisters-in-laws, Joan Meade, and Kate Parsons.

Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of the ER, Stroke Ward, and Palliative Care Unit at Western Regional Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care he received.

In keeping with Ern’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made graciously to the family.
