It is with great sadness that the family of the late Walter Joseph AuCoin announce his peaceful passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow LTC in Port aux Basques, NL on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the age of 82. Born in Millville, NL, he was the son of the late Arthur & Annie AuCoin (nee MacArthur).

Walter leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memories his wife, Annie (nee Samms) of 58 years, son, George (Heather), daughter, Alisha, grandsons Joshua AuCoin & Jordan AuCoin-Frampton, great grandson, Jayce AuCoin. Brother Clem (Madonna), sisters, Leona Gale, Clara Brake (Clive), adopted sister, Christine Gibbons, brothers-in-law Bill AuCoin, many niece and nephews. One niece in particular shines through to us because every chance she had to visit uncle Walter she did. Thank you to LaDawn Gale you never stopped your visits even when he didn’t know who you were. She helped feed him, comb his hair, play cards, bring in treats, etc without any hesitation. Walter will also be missed by many friends and especially his Corner Brook Pulp & Paper woods dept and Sandbar fishing buddies.

He is also predeceased by his sisters Cecilia AuCoin & Bernice Hiscock, brother Raymond, son in law Ted Frampton along with his father and mother in-law, Firznam & Margaret Samms and brother & sister in laws.

We as a family would like to thank the LTC staff for caring for our loved one and the great affection given to Walter’s wife during his 4 months stay.

Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home on Sunday, November 26th from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. In keeping with Walter’s wishes cremation will follow and a funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 2 at 11:00 from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Upper Ferry with Father Prakash officiating, with interment to follow at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery.
