On Thursday, February 15, 2024 our hearts were broken and our lives changed forever as we said goodbye to a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Susan Jane Dicks (nee Ford) as we announce her peaceful passing at home with her loving family by her side at the age of 78. Born in Port aux Basques, Susan was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene Ford.

Susan leaves to mourn with cherished memories, her loving husband of 61 years, Gordon “Joe” Dicks, daughters, Peggy (Freddy) McNeil, and Sarah Hatcher, her son, Gordon (Lori) Dicks, grandchildren, Jamie (Cathy) McNeil, Dalton Hatcher, Megan Dicks, Gillian Dicks, and Brooklyn Dicks, great grandchildren, Ryan Carew, Christopher, and Lucy McNeil. Susan will also be forever missed by her brothers and sister, Shirley Blackmore, June (Gladys) Ford, Joseph Ford, brothers and sisters in law, Jessie Ford, Ray (Audrey) Dicks, Susan (Brian) Ingram, Claude (Lori) Dicks, Rob Dicks (Debbie Farrell), Cora (George) Lawrence, Marjorie (Stan) Seaward, Juanita Gearin. and a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Susan was predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Lucy Dicks, brother, Earl Ford, son in law Lewis Hatcher, brothers and sisters in law, Fred Blackmore, Sheila Ford, Wilfred (Eileen) Ricketts, Esther Dicks, and Jean (Les) Osmond.

In keeping with Susan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Their will be no formal service or visitation just the way Susan had wanted it. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Susan may be made at a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques.
