It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Marina Joyce Gillis announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, with her loving family by her side at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 65 years. Born in Codroy, Joyce was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice (née Samms) Gillis.
Joyce leaves behind with precious memories her brothers and sisters, George (Clarrisa) Gillis, Ann (Joe)Doucette, Donald (Lucy) Gillis, Yvonne (Darrell) Young, Albert (Wanda) Gillis, Catherine Bartlett and Barbara Farrell, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends.
And we would like to send a special thanks to her homecare worker Barbra Landon, and to the doctors and nurses at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for there care and compassion shown to Joyce.
Joyce was predeceased by her sister, Joan Gillis, and niece, Kayla Farrell.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church on Sunday, July 28th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. with a wake service starting at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will take place Monday, July 29th at 11:00 a.m. with Father Prakash officiating. Interment to follow at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in memory of Joyce may be made to CNIB.
