With broken hearts we share the passing of our treasured mom, Wilfreida (Freida) Bungay (nee White) on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 at the age of 89. Mom passed away peacefully in her own home surrounded by her children who loved her beyond measure. She was born in Stephenville and moved to the Codroy Valley as a young child with her parents and siblings. It was in the valley where she met and later married our father, Albert. Together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Left to mourn with cherished memories, her children Sue (Mike), Vicki (Roland), Alma, Sherman (Mary), Virginia (Tommy), Caroline (Ed), and Dwight (Cameron). She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, Brent, April, Zoe-Lynn, Trevor, Alana, Jillian, Ayla, Jeremy, Albert, Jacob, Melissa, Katie, and Elizabeth and fourteen great-grandchildren Erica, Julia, Warren, Lincoln, Remi, Gracie, Kai, Ryla, Leia, Levi, Ella, Helena, Hanna, and Ivy. She is predeceased by her adoring husband Albert Bungay, her parents Frank and Flora White (nee Bourgeois), her brothers Clem, Archie, and Arnold and her sisters Margaret, Mary, Molly, Adelina, and Eva.
Though life was busy working full-time, helping Dad with the farm, raising a family, and so much more, she always made time for others. She made home an inviting place and people loved to visit because they truly felt welcome. She had a beautiful smile, surprising sense of humour, impossibly kind heart, and true passion for nature and music. She loved wholeheartedly, especially her family, and it showed everyday in her actions and words. She has had a profound impact on so many people and this will be one of her greatest legacies.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry on Tuesday, March 11th, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. with the wake service starting at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. with Father Prakash officiating.
