
Obituary of Mabel Savery

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Mabel Savery announces her passing on Monday, March 17th, 2025, with her loving family by her side at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center at the age of 81. Born in La Poile Bay, Mabel was the daughter of the late Charles and Ivy Chant.
Mabel leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children, Michael Savery, Terry (Geraldine) Savery and Carol-ann (Frank) Short, grandchildren, Chris (Melica) Savery, Darryl (Terrilynn) Ashford, Bradley Ashford, Trevor LeRiche, Zoey Savory, Wanda (Junior) Short, Stephen (Patsy) Short, Melissa (Chris) Keeping, great grandchildren Holly, Sky, Cassidy, Jailynn, Hailey, Logan, Lily, Megan, Jesse, Kyle, Rosalie, and Layla, and her first great great grandchild of 1 month, Lillith. She also leaves to mourn her brother, Clyde (Daphne) Chant, sister, Elizabeth Taylor, sister in laws, Janie Chant and Ethel Savery, brother-in-law, Fred Francis, special friend Candace, roommate Nina, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Carl Savery, daughter, Lena Savery (Lew Lomond), baby Savery, brother Ernest Chant, sister, Alice Francis, brothers and sisters in law, Gord Savery, Frank Savery, Cecil Taylor, and Jean (Don) Brake.
A loving wife, caring mother, sweet grandmother, and a cherished friend is how Mabel will be remembered by many. Mabel was faithful to her church and spent much of her time serving and praying. She will also be remembered for her fun dress up, and comedic nature.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of Dr. Charles L. LeGrow for your care and support during a difficult time.
Visitations will be held at Oceanside Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 19th from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held at St. James Anglican Church on Thursday, March 20th at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Jane Allen officiating. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers are graciously accepted, donations in memory of Mabel may be made to St. James Anglican Church.
