Please share a memory of Allan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Allan Patrick MacArthur announces his peaceful passing at home surrounded by family on Friday, April 25th, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Upper Ferry, Allan was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (nee Delaney) MacArthur. Allan will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan (nee Bailey), children, Kelly (Son) Tran, Andrew (Andres), and Megan (Heidi), and grandchildren, Marcus, Noah, Nathan, Cheyenne, Shelby, John, Theo, and Abby. He also leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters, Lydwine (Buds), Carina, and Blaine (Colleen), brothers and sisters in law, Lydwena MacArthur, Sybil MacArthur,Beatrice Reed, Gregory O’Quinn, Wilson (Isabel) Matthews, William Bailey, Carmel Short, Guy (Donna) Bailey, Wayne Bailey, Linda (Dan) Pitcher, Christopher (Karina) Bailey, Paulette Bailey (Ron) and Brian Bailey, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Allan was a kind and gentle man, remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love of the outdoors. He spent much of his life cutting wood, picking berries, hunting, and tending to his garden — activities he deeply enjoyed. He devoted 34 years of service as a mechanic with the Department of Highways, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues through his dedication and craftsmanship. In 2012, life changed for Allan, and he was no longer able to do the things he loved most. Yet even then, he could often be found whistling a tune or tapping his foot, a quiet rhythm that reflected his enduring cheerful spirit. Above all, Allan was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His love for his family was the center of his life, and he took great pride and joy in their accomplishments and happiness. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. Allan was predeceased by his son, Blaine, brothers, Desmond, Brendan, Quentin, and sister Helena O’Quinn, brothers in law, Danny Hynes, Roland Short, Dennis Bailey, and mother and father in law, Marie and Malcom Bailey. In keeping with Allan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Allan may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca.
