It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Sarah “Susie” Meade announces her passing on Monday, April 28th, 2025, at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 87, with her loving family by her side. Born in Deer Island she was the daughter of the late John and Violet Porter.
Susie leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her loving children, Sharon (Alvin) Sheaves and Garry (Donna) Meade, grandchildren, Cory (Kelly) Sheaves, Sheldon Sheaves, and Colin (Katie) Meade, great-grandchild, Meredith Meade, her sisters, Annie Candow, Edith Spencer and sister-in-law, Alma Warren, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Susie was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Meade, her sisters, Alice, Bernice, Betty, Mary and brothers, Arch, Jim, Johnny and Harvey, along with sister’s and brother’s-in-laws.
Thank you to the girls at the manor and the caring nurses who looked after mom at the hospital. A special thank you to Winston and Annie Keeping who was so good to her, it will never be forgotten.
In keeping with Susie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving friends and family on Wednesday, April 30th from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 1st, at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Jane Allen, with interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers accepted or donations in Sarah’s memory can be made to St. James Anglican Church.
