It is with great sadness that the family of the late Walter Garry Janes announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 72. Born in Codroy, he was the son of the late Arthur and Jessie (nee Samms) Janes.

Walter will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Delores (nee Shears) of 47 years, his pride and joy his granddaughters, Deidre Shears (Evan Bourgeois), Kate-Lynn Shears (Zion Roop) and Grace Shears and his great grandson Zaviour Shears, sister, Thelma Snow and brother, Edward Janes, brother-in-law Jim Kendall, sisters-in-law, Jane (Pastor Reg) Skinner, Nora Musseau, Linda (George) Janes and Kim (Ben) Hillard, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Walter was predeceased by his son, Christopher Shears, brothers, Lawrence Galpon, Gordon Galpon, sisters, Eileen Musseau, Viola Janes and Dorothy Kendall, brother-in-law, Randy Snow and sister-in-law Alice Collier.

In keeping with Walter’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Codroy, officiated by Rev. Josh Haggstrom, with interment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter’s memory may be graciously made to the family.
