It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Eric William “Bill” Vautier announces his peaceful passing on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, with his loving family by his side at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center at the age of 78 years. Born in LaPoile, he was the son of the late Stanley and Florence Vautier. Bill leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife, Barbara (nee Chant) of 55 years, his son, Shawn (Sherry) Vautier, his daughter, Charlene (David) Billard. He was a proud poppy and loved spending time with his grandkids, Tori (Matt Akerman), Ryan (Jenna Skinner), Colby and Peter. He will also be missed by his sister, Elsie Anderson and brother and sisters-in-law, Valda Vautier, Darrell (Carol) Frye and Linda (Bob) Halfyard, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Bill had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing the accordion with his close friends. He was an outdoorsman and spent many joyful days fishing,hunting and taking daily walks with his loving wife, Barbara. He was a man who lived fully, loved deeply and made others laugh often. Bill’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all who were lucky enough to know him. Bill was predeceased by his sisters, Dora Organ, Bernice (Arthur) Chant, Clarence Vautier, brothers-in-law, Will Anderson and Gary Frye. The family will be receiving family and friends at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street on Sunday, May 4th from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00 -9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Monday, May 5th at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Jane Allen and Rev. Faye Coffin, with interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers accepted or donations in Bill’s memory can be made to St. James Anglican Church. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca
