Jeff Chard Obituary

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that the family of the late Jeffrey Augustus Chard announce his sudden passing on Friday, July 11th, 2025 at the age of 59. Born in Bonavista, Jeff was the son of the late Eugene and Dulcie Chard.

Jeff will be forever missed by his loving wife of 34 years, Alisa Chard (nee Short), his children, Ryan (Shayna) Chard, and Jarvis (Gillian) Dalton, his grandchildren who were the apples of his eye, Claire and Izaiah. Jeff also leaves to mourn, his brother Ray (Denice) Chard, sister, Vivian Chard (Kipp), mother-in-law, Bessie Short, brothers and sisters in law, Fred Hart, Gordon (Lucille) Short, Wayne (Sheila) Short, and Rick (Ada) Short, plus many nieces, nephews, extended family, and a large circle of friends.

Jeff was a big guy with the biggest heart. His two greatest loves were his family and music. He wore his heart on his sleeve and if he loved you, you knew it. He was a devoted husband, Dad and Poppy and talking about his grandchildren put a sparkle in his eyes. His brother and sister meant the world to him. He had the very best friends and loved them dearly. Jeff found peace and comfort in music and playing his guitar. While our family chain is forever broken, our love for Jeff will live on and we will carry him in our hearts forever. Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away and he had a lifetime of those moments.

Jeff was predeceased by his parents Eugene and Dulcie Chard, his sister, Kay Hart, father-in-law, Emmanuel Short, brother-in-law Henry Short, and sister-in-law, Diane Kettle.
