It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Freeman Robert Morris announce his sudden but peaceful passing on Tuesday, August 19th, 2025, in Dartmouth, NS at the age of 68 with his loving family by his side. Born in Richard’s Harbour, NL, he was the son of the late Robert and Ruth (Nee Durnford) Morris.

Freeman leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Lavina “Vinie” Morris, daughter Erica (Donnie) Hancock, son Wade (Paulette) Morris, and grandchildren, Hudson, Rory, Sarah and Conor, and father-in-law William (Thelma) Cross.

He will be forever missed by his brother Frank (Sheila) Morris and sisters Mary (Tom) Dawe and Doris (John) Spencer. Plus, a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Freeman was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ruth Morris, brother Riley Morris, mother-in-law Dorothy Cross, and brother-in-law Arthur Cross.

Freeman was a kind, hardworking man who provided a great life for his family. He was the jack of all trades and always willing to lend a helping hand. Freeman enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially his “ice cream dates” with his youngest grandson, Rory. Freeman’s calm demeanor, contagious smile and sweet soul will be missed dearly.

In keeping with Freeman’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitations will be held at Oceanside Funeral Home on Saturday, October 11th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 12th, at 2:00 p.m., from St. James Anglican Church, with Rev. Jane Allen officiating. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Freeman can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
