Mike Moss Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Michael James Moss announces the peaceful passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend on October 22nd, 2025, at the age of 73 at Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Port aux Basques, Mike was the son of the late James and Theresa (nee Chaisson) Moss.

Mike leaves to mourn with precious memories, and to celebrate his life, his devoted wife of 49 years, Sandra, his son, James (Emily), daughter, Jennifer (Isaac), and treasured grandson, Tommy. He also leaves to mourn his brothers, Bernard (Joanne), James (Debbie), Brian (Susanne), sisters Sheila (Darris) Seaward, Delphine (Jerry) Dumalski, Denise, brothers and sisters in law, Bill (Phyllis), Danny (Dee), Benjamin (Lorna), Bob (Karen), Lloyd (Peggy), Ada, Rose (Joe), Julie, Marlene (Harry), and Michelle, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Mike will be remembered for his generous heart and his willingness to help others. He was a true outdoorsman, who was at peace on a salmon river, in his boat fishing/hunting birds, or in the wood’s moose hunting. He was a quiet man but would chat with anyone and enjoyed a good fish fry at the cabin with a yard full of friends, or at home cooking his renowned Fish and Chips. Above all, Mikes family was his first priority and his love for them was constant.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, sister, Katie, brother, Patrick, and mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Elsie (nee King) Savery.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Thomas and staff of Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Center, Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center, the Miller Center and Hyperbaric Medical Treatment Team who cared for Mike during this difficult time in his life. Your kindness and compassion while providing excellent care will always be remembered.

In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 25th at 1:00 P.M from St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Kuda officiating, with interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. In Lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mike can be made to the LeGrow Health Center Foundation.
