Blanche Kettle Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Blanche Kettle announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, November 27th, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side, at the age of 72. Born in Port aux Basques, Blanche was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Elsie (nee Crewe) Matthews.

Blanche will be dearly missed by her loving husband Clarence, her brothers and sisters, Gordon (Phyllis), Marcella (Roland), Claude (Joanne), Aiden (Marilyn), Kathleen (Terry), Norman (Margaret), Raymond (Nancy), Marina (Wade). She also leaves to mourn with wonderful memories, her brothers and sisters in law, Stuart, George, Sandra, and Mary, plus a large circle of nieces and nephews, who she was very fond of, and many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Elsie, sister, Aneitha Kettle, nephew, Collin Matthews, father and mother-in-law, Norman and Annie Kettle, brothers in law, Albert Kettle, Eric Kettle, and sisters in law, Eva and Gertie.

Blanche was a wonderful lady, she was kind, caring, loving and thoughtful. She was a very strong person, and while she never said a lot, what she said always mattered.

Blanche shared most of her life with the love of her life, Clarence. He was her person, and they were married for over 47 years. They were a very quiet and private couple, who everyone knew. They loved going for rides, no matter the time of day. They enjoyed going camping together, especially in their motorhomes. Her and Clarence always treasured spending time with their family, all their nieces, nephews and of course their friends. Her door was always open. She especially looked forward to her Sunday night visits with her brothers.

She was a woman of many talents, not only was she an excellent knitter, but she was also known for making beautiful flower arrangements. She sold these crafts with her sister, Kathleen, at craft fairs for over twenty years, where she made beautiful displays. Blanche was also an exceptional baker, she enjoyed sharing her treats with those she cared about. She was always a very fashionable lady, she was a beautiful woman, and she took the time to take care of her appearance. One thing we can’t forget about Blanche was her passion in life, her cards. She adored her card club girls, and they loved her too.

Blanche will be forever missed by her family and friends; we will never forget her kind ways and the love she had for life.
