Cecil Baggs Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cecil Charles Baggs announces his peaceful passing on Monday, January 12th, 2026 at Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 74. Born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Cecil moved to Port aux Basques in 1966, and was the son of the late John and Bertha (Hatcher) Baggs.


Cecil will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Yvonne (nee Gale), his children, Gregory (Robyn Martin) and Michael (Carly), his grandchildren Jessica, Brooklyn, and Izabella. Also left to mourn are Cecil’s sister and brother, Rosella (Emanuel) Keagan and James (Pauline) Baggs, and brothers-in-law Frederick (Kay) Gale, Glenn (Elaine) Gale, Frank Foote and Robert MacLean. Cecil will also be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, and a large circle of friends and extended family.


Cecil was predeceased by his parents, John and Bertha Baggs, sister Mildred MacLean, parents-in-law Fred and Susan Gale, and sister-in-law Linda Foote, and nephews, Daniel Keagan, Kenny Gale, and James Keagan.


In keeping with Cecil’s wishes cremation has taken place. A service (Celebration of Life) will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Cecil can be graciously made to the family.
