It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ronald Andy Hoskins announces his passing on Thursday, January 15th, 2026, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center with his loving family by his side, at the age of 78. Born in New Harbour, Trinity Bay, Andy was the son of the late Ronald and Bertha Hoskins.
Andy will be sadly missed by his loving children, Trevor, and Trudy (Steve), his grandchildren, Andre Hoskins (Carlos) and Emily Francis. Also left to mourn are Andy’s sisters and brothers, Clyde Hoskins (Dale), Raymond Hoskins, Mervin Hoskins, Madonna (Bill) Dawe, Sherry (Brian) Masters, Louise (Calvin) Hillier, and brother-in-law Albert (Bernice) Osmond, plus many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. He will be forever missed by best friends, Clyde Hodder, Doug Hefford, Wayne Dominie, Lorne Porter, Hazel McKinnon, Rita & Gord Francis, Dr. Mary Wall who came to visit him every summer, and his children’s friends who were always there when needed, Randolph & Andrea, Scott & Tara, Terry & Sandi,Denise & Tony, Sandra & Cliffy, Tammy & Jimmy, Charlie & Jeanie, plus so many more.
Dad’s pride and joy was ‘pops man’, his grandson Andre. Dad was a great provider, husband, and father, and there wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t try to do to help out before he lost his sight. He worked at Marine Atlantic for 26 years and was very proud of his job and the work he did there. He was also an avid sportsman, loving all sports but he lived for his teams, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Andy will now be reunited with his loving wife, Christine Hoskins and his sweet puppy Simba, both of whom he has missed dearly. He was also predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Bertha, parents in law, Wilson Osmond and Ruth Piercey, sisters in law, Elaine Hoskins and Marie Hoskins.
In keeping with Andy’s wishes cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home on Sunday, January 18th, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M. The funeral service will take place on Monday, January 19th, at 11:00 a.m. from St. James Anglican Church, with Rev. Kuda officiating. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers are accepted, or donations in memory of Andy can be graciously made to the family.
