Ward Skinner Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Warden Skinner announces his peaceful passing on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Hospital, at the age of 82. Born in Isle aux Morts, he was the son of the late Ameila Jane LeFrense.
He will be forever missed by his devoted wife of 61 years, Alice (Wheeler) Skinner, children, Glenn (Rose), Byron (Cynthia), Myrna (Bob) and Marsha (Blanchard), grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda), Benjamin, Sarah, Owen, William, Cicely, and Nicholas, and great grandchildren Landon and Parker.
Ward also leaves to mourn his sister, Ruth Street, plus many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ward was a carpenter by trade. He contributed immensely to his community. He spent most of his life volunteering with many organizations which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was the Mayor of Isle aux Morts for a time, and as mayor one major highlight for him was meeting Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
He enjoyed fishing and trouting. Just about every evening he could be found, along with Alice, trouting in local ponds. He enjoyed a good game of cards or crib. One special memory his family will cherish was how he taught each of his kids and grandkids to play crib.
He was predeceased by sisters, brother, and in laws, Adeline Hatcher, Classie (Ernest) Harris, Phyllis (Henry) Billard, Alfreda (Tom) Coley, Fred (Betty) Skinner, and Matthew Street, plus extended family of the Skinner, Kinslow, and Wheeler families.
In keeping with Ward’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit the Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts on Monday, January 26th from 2:00-4:00and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 27th, at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev.
