Roger Hann Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roger Ivor Charles Hann announces his passing on January 23, 2026 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital with his loving family by side at the age of 77. Born in Trout River, Roger was the son of the late James Samuel Hann and Olga May Hann (Nee Young).

Roger will be sadly missed by his loving wife Sandra Hann (Nee Patten) of 37 years, his children, Jason, Jamie (Shelly), Roger (Crista), Kyle, Candice (Scott), grandchildren, Austin, Harmony, and Beau. Roger also leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters, Dave (Lorna), Deborah (Mario), Joy (Anthony), Clarence (Renate), Jenny (Stanley), Tillie (Darrell), and special friend who was like a brother Daniel Payne (Jean), as well as brothers and sisters in law, Debbie (Gerald), Joan (Francis), Edward (Teesa), Robert (Anita), Glynn (Cheryl), Roseanne, Paul (Marilyn), Bradley (Mary), plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Roger was predeceased by his baby brother Patrick, brother in law's George Ryan, and Thomas O’rgean.

Roger was a ‘Jack of all trades’. No task was too large for him. He was most passionate about his fishing career and could tell quite a story. He fished from the Labrador Shores right to Burnt Islands along side his loving wife Sandra. His final days were filled with thoughts of fishing as though he was still at sea. Next to fishing he deeply loved his family, music, and friends. If there was a guitar in sight, you could be rest assured he would play a song or two, or ten. He loved a good kitchen party.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Thomas and staff at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre, staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital and Palliative Care Unit and a very special thank you to Crystal Hickey.

In keeping with Roger’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with services to follow at a later date. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca

Gone Fishin’

I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,

So put me on a boat headed out to sea.

Please send along my fishing pole,

For I have been invited to the fishin’ hole.

Where every day is a day to fish,

To fill your heart with every wish.

Don’t worry, or feel sad for me,

I’m fishing with the master of the sea.

We will miss each other for a while,

But you will come and bring your smile.

That won’t be long you will see,

Till we’re together you and me.

To all of those that think of me,

Be happy as I go out to sea.

If others wonder why i am missin’

Just tell ‘em I’ve gone fishin’.
