It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Edgar Young announces his passing on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 66. Born in Port aux Basques, he was the son of Arthur (Alice) Young and the late Eileen Young.

Edgar will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 30 years, Barb, his daughter Ashley, and son Travis, and his treasured grandchildren, Bella, Brody, and Choley, step daughters,Nicole (Scott) and Amy, step grandchildren,Donovan,LJ and Stryker.

He also leaves to mourn his siblings, Christine, Sam (Cheryl), Max, Perry (Shirley), and Shona (Barry), and step siblings, Phyllis (Jerry), Lorna (Glen), Lloyd (Audrey), Wade (Cindy), Johnny, Darlene (Danny), Denise (Walter), and Tina (John) plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Edgar was predeceased by his brother, Terry, sister, Dorthina, stepbrother Keith and stepsister, Mary.

Edgar faced a long and courageous battle with cancer with remarkable strength and dignity. Strong willed by nature, he never wanted to burden others with how unwell he was, choosing instead to meet each day with quiet resilience. Edgar was known for his jolly spirit, friendly nature, and a smile that was always ready, no matter the circumstances. He loved camping at his trailer, and spending time with his family. He was never afraid of hard work and would do whatever was necessary to provide for those he loved. Edgar was very proud of his 14 years of service with the Royal Canadian Navy. Above all else, Edgars family was his everything, and his devotion to them was the guiding force of his life and legacy.
