It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late George Allan Neil announces his peaceful passing on February 13, 2026, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Hospital, at the age of 78. Born in Burgeo, he was the son of the late Archibald and Bessie Neil.
Allan will be forever missed by his devoted wife of 59 years, Betty (nee Hatcher) Neil, son, Lyndon Neil (Jolene Chaulk), and his pride and joy, his grandson, Luke Chaulk.
Allan also leaves to mourn his sister, Bernice (Freeman) Crewe, stepsister, Hazel Nicholson, and stepbrother, Charlie (Maude) Kendall, sisters and brothers in law, Flossie (William) Hatcher, Nita (Austin) Chislett, and Ivy Hatcher, plus many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Affectionately known to many as “Cocky Neil”, Allan was a man who lived his life to the fullest. He spent 14 years working on the lakes and then became a fisherman until he retired. He loved bird hunting, playing the accordion and spending time at his cabin on Deer Island, but above all else he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Allan was predeceased by his son, Sidney Neil, brother-in-law, Austin Hatcher, and mother and father-in-law, Annabelle and Wilson Hatcher, plus extended family.
Family and friends may visit the St. Michaels and All Angels church in Rose Blanche on Saturday, February 14 from 2:00 -4:00and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. John Billard, with interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations made in memory to Allan can be made to charity’s of one choice.
