It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late James Manuel Lomond announces his passing on Friday, February 20th, 2026, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, at the age of 60. Born in Port aux Basques, he was the son of Morgan and Mary Lomond.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, father-in-law, and friend. He shared 33 wonderful years with his wife Michelle, who stood by him through every chapter of his life. He was a proud and loving father to his two beautiful daughters, Erin and Julia, father-in-law to Alex, and a deeply cherished Poppy to his grandson, Everson, who brought him endless joy.

Jim leaves to mourn with many precious memories, his parents Morgan and Mary, his brother Gerry (Suzan), sister Elaine, parents in law Lloyd and Janice, brother-in-law, Mike (Krista), and his nephews and nieces, Marshall, Travis, Jayden, Kaitlyn, Becky and Megan, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Jim faced a lifelong kidney disease with remarkable courage, undergoing 3 kidney transplants in his life. He was in every sense of the word, a fighter, and he never gave up. Jim loved animals – dogs, cats, rabbits – our home was a funny farm and he loved them all.

He was predeceased by his nephew, Adam, niece, Jill, baby brother, Stephen, and brother-in-law, Trevor.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home on Monday, February 23rd from 2:00 -4:00and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory to Jim can be made graciously to the family. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques.
