It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Edward ‘Ned’ Vickers announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 74. Born in Port aux Basques, he was the son of the late Charles and Berthania (nee Symes) Vickers.

Ned will be sadly missed by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Marie, son, Robert (Corina) Vickers, grandson, Alex Vickers, sisters, Mary (Bill) Caines, Dorothy (Hyde), Nellie Lawrence (Colin Short), brother, Jack Symes (Suzanna), brother-in-law, Kelvin (Jeanette Flemming) Parsons, sister-in-law, Edith Parsons, nephews, Tony (Denise) Parsons, Kris (Melanie) Parsons, Andrew (Erin) Parsons, Adam (Amanda) Parsons, nieces, Karen (Daniel Kettle) Lawrence, Karen Parsons, and Candace Caines, plus a large number of extended family and friends.

Ned loved his music, and having friends drop in to visit him in his “Shed.” The daily ‘union’ meetings were held at the ‘Valley Government Wharf", and Ned was nicknamed “The Mayor of Tompkins.”

He was predeceased by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Herbet & Kathleen Parsons, brothers in law, Jim and Austin Parsons.

In keeping with Ned’s wishes cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held. Donations in memory of Ned can be graciously made to St. James Anglican Church, the Salvation Army, or a charity of one’s choice.
