Vera Tapp Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vera Tapp announces her passing on Sunday, April 5th, 2026, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center with her loving family by her side, at the age of 88. Born in Pasadena, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Alice Short.


Vera will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 70 years, Clayton Tapp, daughter, Donna (Junior) Cumby, daughter in law, Patricia Tapp, the apple of her eye, her granddaughter Sheena (Randy) Cooper, and her greatest joy in life, her great grandchild, Munroe Cooper.


She also leaves to mourn her brothers and sisters, Basil Short, Gary (Edie) Short, Bernice Jesso, Margaret Humphries, Ada Brown, Patricia King, Francis Piercey, brothers and sisters in law, Howard (Shirley) Tapp, Gordon (Coreen) Tapp, Ivan (Marilyn) Tapp, Robert (Donna) Tapp, Doreen Pearce, Audrey (Robert) Anderson, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.


Vera was predeceased by her son, Jerome Tapp, brother, Jerome Short, William Short, sisters, Myrtle Pope and Dorothy Kettle, brothers and sisters in law, George Tapp, Evelyn Janes, Laura Gillam, Annie Tapp, Myrtle Tapp, mother and father in law Philip and Eliza Tapp, and many extended family members.


The family would like to say a special thanks to her homecare workers, Sylvia Pearce and Marilyn Osmond, for taking such good care of her.


In keeping with Vera’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, April 8th at 2:00 P.M from St. John the Evangelist in Cape Ray, with Rev. Josh Haggstrom officiating. Interment to follow at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Vera may be made to the church.
