Madonna Coleman Obituary
On April 30, 2026 the light in the world became a little dimmer, the butterflies all gasped in disbelief and our hearts were broken as the most beautiful soul left us. Our beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt and friend peacefully passed away at the age of 63, after a courageous eight year battle with cancer.
Left to mourn are her husband Brad, and her daughter Nikita(Jeff) Janes; mother Shirley Evans; in-laws Elsie and Kevin Coleman; siblings; Glen (Nancy), Percy(Maisie), Godfrey(Angela), Coreena(Phil), Caulette, Junior(Cindy), Amanda(Archie), Jeannette(Sean), Jonathan(Michelle); Melanie(Bernard): brothers-in-law; Tony(Heather), Kevin(Rose Marie), Tyler and sister-in-law Colleen(Dwayne), as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her. Madonna was predeceased by her father Maxwell Evans, her brother-in-law, Shawn Lillington and her grandparents.
If you knew Madonna, you knew that Brad and Nikita were her life. She cherished them, would never speak ill of them and would always refer to them as her ‘rock’ - because they were. Madonna struggled through many surgeries and endless chemo treatments, but she never complained. Although each setback brought tears, she moved forward with unwavering courage and a determination to beat her cancer, up until her very last days. Her positive attitude was an inspiration to everyone around her. Madonna had an appreciation for life and it didn’t take much to make her happy. She enjoyed sitting in her rocking chair or on her patio, listening to George Jones. She loved a good game of Bingo or Rummoli, a house filled with decorations for every occasion, a clothesline full of clothes, colourful outfits and of course butterflies - because there can never be too many butterflies. Madonna was one of a kind. She had a contagious smile, the most fun personality and the kindest heart. No one will replace her and our lives will never be the same without her.
Brad and Nikita would like to thank Dr. Wendy Graham, Dr. Hadi, Bobbi Russell, and the team of community health nurses who visited on a regular basis. A very heartfelt thank you goes to Sherry Vautier and everyone in the chemo unit who always took such great care of Madonna over the years.
In keeping with Madonna’s wishes, cremation has already occurred. Family and friends are welcome to visit Holy Spirit Church in Isle aux Morts on Monday, May 4th, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 5th at 2:00 pm, officiated by Reverend Annie Rose.
