Lorne Sheaves Obituary
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Lorne Lewis Sheaves announces his passing on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side, at the age of 75. Born in Port aux Basques, Lorne was the son of the late Harold and Rebecca Sheaves.
He leaves to mourn with many loving memories, his devoted wife “Betty” Sheaves, precious daughter, Lorna Sheaves, his “other” daughter Tanya Hancock, two special grandchildren, Jacob and Lily Hancock, sister Freda Gosse, brothers, Harold George (Eva) Sheaves, Claude (Brenda) Sheaves, Frank (Carol) Sheaves, Wayne Sheaves (Sonia Thomas), Glen (Lorna) Sheaves, brother in laws, Eugene (Vivian) Andrews, Bruce (Catherine) Andrews, Junior (Ivy) Andrews, sister in laws, Marjorie (Gar) Chant, Elsie (Gary) White, Linda Wheaton, Joy (Wayne) Baker, his special fur buddy Cooper, and many nieces, nephews, a large extended family and numerous friends.
Lorne Sheaves was a loyal employee of Colemans grocery store for over 25 years, a loving husband for 55 years and devoted father to his daughter Lorna. He loved his family, the Lord, the Toronto Maple Leafs and hunting. Jack of all trades he was always the first to lend a helping hand, and his generosity knew no bounds.
Those who knew him loved him and his life was a shining of example of a life well lived for Jesus. He left a lasting impression on all who met him and he will be greatly missed but he is waiting safely in the arms of Jesus for his family to join him.
Lorne was predeceased by his parents Harold and Rebecca Sheaves, Mother and father-in-law John and Ruby Andrews, sister Nina Button, brother-in-law Richard Button, baby brother Gerald, sister-in-law, Grace Sheaves, brother-in-law, Harold Gosse, brothers-in-law Wallace Andrew and Lindo Wheaton, sister-in-law Nancy Andrews, nephew Micheal Wheaton.
Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home, on Saturday, May 16th, from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00 -9:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Sunday, May 17th, 2026, at 2:00 PM from Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle, officiated by Pastor Jeffrey Bessey. Burial will follow at Faith Pentecostal Cemetery. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in memory of Lorne can be made to a charity of your choosing.
