Mary Olive Walters Obituary

On Monday, July 27, 2020, our hearts were filled with sadness as our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Mary Olive Walters, passed away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 78 years with her loving family by her side. Born in Deer Island, she was the daughter of the late Garfield and Faith (nee Northcott) Carroll. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons, Shawn (Rhonda) Geoff (Verna) Craig (Cecilia) Todd, and Richard (Raiann), grandchildren, Haley, Rachel, Dryden, Drew, Mary, Breanna, Callie, Ryder, Hailey and Owen Bond, and Nicholas and Aleigha Skinner. Her sisters, Marjorie Dominie, Patricia (Raymond) Reid and, Marie (Wayne) Farrell and brothers, Alvin (Mary) Carroll, Dorman (Alma) Carroll, Seward (Florence) Carroll, Reg (Phyllis) Carroll and Jack Carroll (Gloria Billard) brother-and sister-in-law, Ike (Phyllis) Walters, Ruth Walters and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was predeceased by husband, Earl Walters, brother, Ronald Carroll, sister-in-law, Mildred Carroll, brothers-in-law, Gerald Walters, Rupert Walters, and Edgar Dominie. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving friends and family on Thursday, July 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31st at 11:00 am. at St. James’ Anglican Church with Rev. Jane Allen officiating, interment to follow at St. James’ Anglican Cemetery. Flowers graciously accepted or donations in memory of Mary may be made to Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation, 300 Prince Philip Drive, St. John’s, NL A1B 3V6 or Heart and Stroke Foundation 1037 Topsail Rd, Mount Pearl, NL A1N 5E9.
