It is with great sadness that the family of the late Melita Walters announces her passing on Sunday, August 16, 2020, at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, at the age of 79 with her loving family by her side. Born in Francois Melita was the daughter of the late Samuel and Minnie (Young) Durnford. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving sons, Fabian (Nancy) Walters of Isle aux Morts, Jerome (Shirley) Walters of Isle aux Morts, Ross (Angie) Walters of Halifax, NS, Kerry (Michelle) Walters of Rose Blanche, Deon (Amy) Walters of Isle aux Morts, grandchildren, Holly Walters, Melita Larder Walters, Tyler (Aliccia) Walters, Matthew (Jess) Walters, Kelsey Walters, Daniel Walters, Rossalynn Walters, David and Katelyn Hann, three great-grandchildren, Jada, Kallie, and Wesley, brothers and sisters, Frank (Maryann) Durnford), Gladys (Arch) Organ, Edna MacDonald, Georgina (Lloyd) Fudge, Fred Durnford, Corwin (Patricia) Durnford, sisters-and brothers-in-law, Darlene Durnford, Beverly Durnford, Marie Organ, Corella Appleby (Mike), Bernard (Liz) Walters and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Melita was predeceased by her husband, Norman Walters, infant daughter, Gloria Walters, brothers, Freeman, Samuel Durnford,brothers and sisters-in-law, Eric MacDonald, Freeman Organ, Beulah (John) Walters and Hazel (Wilbee) Harvey. The family will be receiving friends and family on Thursday, August 20th at 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, August 21 at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts with Rev. Nathan Culter officiating, interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery.
