Obituary of Garnet James Osmond

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Garnet James Osmond announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, January 18th at the age of 78 with his loving family by his side. Born in Port aux Basques, Garnet was the son of the late Clifford and Rebecca (nee Short) Osmond. Garnet leaves to mourn with loving memories his children; Derrick Osmond (Alysson McAlister), Theodore Osmond, Karen Osmond (Bob Blackmore), Amanda (Jeff) Simms, Wendy (George) Meade, daughter in-law, Joanna Osmond, and Roy Osmond whom he thought of as a son, grandchildren; Lana Heath (Ray), Rebecca Osmond, Keisha Osmond, Zackery Osmond (Brianna), William Meade (Emy), great-grandchildren; Jayda, Jamison, and Hudson. He will also be sadly missed by his companion, Nora Osmond, sisters, brothers and in-laws; Carrie Currie, Rosie White, Dave Osmond, Nina (Bud) Davis, Eric Osmond (Selina Rumbolt), William (Marilyn) Osmond, Barb Osmond, Russell (Margaret) Purchase, Norman (Donna) Purchase, Sis Purchase, Donald (Christine) Purchase, Rodney Purchase, Dulcie (Albert) Taylor, Grace Purchase and Marilyn Purchase, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Garnet was predeceased by his wife Mardee Osmond, son, Stephen Osmond, brothers and sisters Harriett Lillington, Norman (Donalda) Osmond, Terry Osmond, Leslie Currie, Albert White, in-laws, Fred Purchase, Jack Purchase and Maxwell Purchase. Visitations for Garnet will take place on Monday, Jan 24th from 7:00-9:00 PM at Oceanside Funeral Home, and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 25 at 2:00 P.M at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Jane Allen officiating. Please note that in accordance with provincial regulations, proof of Covid-19 vaccination and mask will be needed to enter for visitation and the funeral service. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers graciously accepted, donations in Garnets memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
