Obituary of Clara Melinda Coley

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clara Melinda Coley (nee Rose) announces her passing on Thursday, February 3, 2022, with her loving family by her side at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port Aux Basques at the age of 89 years. Born in Fox Island, Clara was the daughter of the late Ernest and Sarah Rose. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter, Debbie (Alvin) Francis of Isle aux Morts, grandchildren, Scott (Jill) of Paradise, and Lori (Zack) of St. Johns, and her great-grandchildren, Sadie Claire and Ellie Marie as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves to mourn sister, Susie Chafé of Marion Bridge, Nova Scotia, brother, Harold Rose of Port aux Basques, and brother-in-law George Gaulton. Clara is predeceased by husband, John Coley, sister, Margaret Gaulton, in-laws, Regis Rose, Edith (James) Baggs, Cassie (Benjamin) Hayman, Amy (John) Baggs, Sarah (Elijah) Skinner, Mary (Clifford) Samms, Kenneth Coley, and Walter Chafé. Clara was born in Fox Island and later moved to Isle aux Morts where she spent many years working on the Fish Plant.She always spoke very fondly of her days working on the plant and how much fun she had there.She never missed the chance for a dance and always enjoyed a game of cards or darts with her friends. Clara's pride and joy were her two grandkids and later her great-grandkids. The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Hope Manor and the Dr. Charles L.Legrow Health Centre for the care they provided to Clara. The family will recieve family and friends at the Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts on Sunday,February 6th, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday,February 7th, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev.Edward Coleman officiating Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts road. Donations Clara's memory may be made to the Holy Spirit Anglican Church. Please note that in accordance with provincial regulations, proof of Covid-19 vaccination and mask will be needed to enter for visitation and the funeral service. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Oceanside Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca.
