It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Mary Joan Gillis announces her passing on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, with her loving family by her side at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port Aux Basques at the age of 76 years. Born in Codroy, Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice (née Samms) Gillis.
Joan leaves behind with precious memories her brothers and sisters, George (Clarrisa), Ann (Joe), Donald (Lucy), Yvonne (Darrell), Albert (Wanda), Joyce, Catherine (Andrew) and Barbara Farrell, a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Joan was predeceased by her niece, Kayla Farrell.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, March 25th from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. At the request of the family, a mask is strongly recommended. A Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 10:00 a.m. with Father Andrew White officiating. Interment to follow at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CNIB .
