It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lorne Keeping announces his passing on April 8, 2022 at 70 years of age after a short battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre. Born in Burnt Islands, he was the son of Angus P. and Julia Keeping. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his sons, Jamie (Amelia), Darren (Daele), and most of all his precious grandchildren, Kache and Remmy and also his English setter,companion (Trigger). Also left to mourn: brothers and sisters, Barbara (Melvin) Harris, Marilyn Hatcher, Hubert Keeping, Maxine Keeping (Dermont King),Hickman (Nicole) Keeping, Arlene Keeping (Dennis Courtney), Jim (Lorraine)Keeping and Perry (Trudy) Keeping; mother-in-law, Mary Pope, brothers and sisters-in-laws, Barry ( Daisy )Pope, Bub ( Liz ) Pope, Lloyd (Gaynia) Pope, Dwayne(Roxanne) Pope, Henry Baggs, Marilyn (Reuben) Pope, Cathy (Ted) Dale, and Cynthia Pope; 26 nieces and nephews; 25 great nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends. Lorne was predeceased by his parents Angus P. and Julia Keeping(nee Currie) wife, Sherry Clarice Keeping, father-in-law, Corwin Pope, sister, Grace Baggs, and brother in law Reginald Hatcher. Lorne seasonally fished with his family and friends in his earlier years. He retired in 2009 after serving 35 years of service with Marine Atlantic, upon retirement he stayed active doing the simple things in life he always enjoyed doing; Cod Jigging,Berry Picking, Turr Hunting, Moose hunting, Trouting, beach combing firewood for family outdoor fires and going for drives with his buddy (Trigger). The family will receive visitors from St. George’s Anglican Church, Burnt Islands on Sunday, April 10 from 7-9 p.m. and Monday, April 11 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 12 at 2:00 p.m. from St. George’s Anglican Church in Burnt Islands, with Rev. Dianne Fry officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
