It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert Douglas Mackinnon announces his passing on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 81. Born in Dutch Brook, Nova Scotia he was the son of the late John and Florence (nee Lund) MacKinnon. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his loving wife, Hazel (nee Musseau) of 43 years, his son Harvey (Barbara) MacKinnon, grandson, Dylan and granddaughter, Jayde all of Port Hawkesbury, NS. Robert leaves to mourn his sisters-in-laws, Diane Lawrence and Dale Barnes, nephews, Robert Lawrence, Wally (Lillian) Lawrence, nieces, Vanessa Fogh, Bernadette, Carrie Lynn, Louise, great nieces, Jade and Jenna Lawrence, and a large circle of extended family.

Robert was a proud fireman of 25 years in Port Hastings, and he won the Canadian Championship for Hydroplane and he was a very avid race car driver. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his son, Robbie MacKinnon, brother, George MacKinnon and sister, Lorraine MacDonald.

In keeping with Robert’s wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca
