It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roland Short announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, at the age of 66, with his loving wife by his side.

Born in Port aux Basques, Roland was the son of the late James and Dulcie Short. Roland will be sadly missed by his wife Carmel Short (nee Bailey) of 45 years. Roland also leaves to mourn his children, Shannon, Guelph, Ontario and Jenna Short, St.John’s, NL, granddaughter, Hailey Short, brothers and sisters, Lucy (Bob) Ingram, Rick (Kay) Short, Perry Short,Doreen (Mark) Strickland and Tracey (Austin) Rumbolt, brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilson (Isabelle) Matthews, Joan (Allan) MacArthur, Bill Bailey (Sandra Hinks), Guy (Donna) Bailey, Wayne Bailey, Linda (Dan) Pitcher, Christopher Bailey,(Karina Asmar) Paulette Bailey (Ron Buttery), Brian Bailey, Debbie Short, and Carol Bailey, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Roland was predeceased by his sister, Bernice (Ron) Marche, brothers, Alex (Dinah) Short, Stan Short, and brother-in-law Dennis Bailey

In keeping with Roland’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Monday, November 28th from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques

The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 29th from Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle, with Pastor Jeffrey Bessey officiating at 11:00 A.M with interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery. Flowers accepted or donations in memory of Roland can be made to the family. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques.
