With great sadness and heavy hearts, the family of the late Alvin George Carroll announces his peaceful passing on December 10th, 2022 at the age of 77 years. Alvin passed at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow hospital with his family by his side. Born on Deer Island, NL, Alvin was the son of the late Garfield and Faith Carroll (nee Northcott). With loving memories he leaves to mourn his wife Mary of 55 years, daughter,Elvena,son, Jason (Vanessa), grandson Ryan (Sky), and the apples of his eye, his great-grandchildren, Lexi, Jacob, and Courtney. He also leaves to mourn his brothers Jack, Reginald (Phyllis), Seaward, (Florence), Dorman (Alma), his sisters, Patricia, Marie (Wayne), and Marjorie, his brother and sister-in-law, John (Elvena), Joan (Calvin), Sharon (Wayne), Diane (Jeff), Danny (Tina), and Dinah. He also leaves behind many friends, nieces, and nephews. Alvin was predeceased by his brother, Ronald, sister, Mary, brothers-in-law, Earl Walters and Edgar Dominie, sister-in-law, Mildred Carroll, father and mother-in-law George and Dorothy Carter, and brothers-in-law Eric and George Carter. Alvin was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and cooking up a feed in his outdoor kitchen. He thoroughly enjoyed a good game of farkle and 120’s, and, for many years, Alvin loved his time at his cabin in Peter Strides. He also enjoyed his winters in Fort McMurray with his son, Jason, and many friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Al-Nabbott and the nursing staff at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Hospital for their exceptional loving care and compassion. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Alvin’s memory can be made to a charity of one's choice. In keeping with Alvin’s wishes cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques on Monday, December 12th from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 13th, from 2:4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 14th, from St. Augustine’s Church,Margaree with Rev. Jane Allen officiating at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangments have been entrusted to Oceanside Funeral Home.
