It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marie Meade on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre with her loving family by her side at the age of 83. Born in Burnt Islands, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Jane Hatcher.

Marie leaves to mourn with fond and loving memoires her sons, Lonnie, Larry (Nina), Ricky (Denise Handley), Glenn and Corey Meade (Jenna Harvey), step daughter, Harriett (Edgar) Reid, grandsons, Randy, Ricky, Walker and Scott Reid, granddaughters, Daisy, Nakita, Alexandria, Colleen and Angie and her great grandchildren, Zander, Logan, Natalie, Kalli and Kye. She will never be forgotten by her brother, Victor (Lorraine) Hatcher, sister, Margaret (George) Lawrence, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, Augustus “Gus” Meade, brothers and sisters, Jackie, Don (Selina) Dave (Christine) Alex (Geraldine), Cecil (Minnie), Reginald (Addie), Alice (Ralph) Croucher, Emma (Victor) Leamon and Carrie (Harvey) Burgess, brothers and sisters in laws, Clarence (Hazel) George (Laura), Willard (Dorothy), Eric (Alma) , Norman, Reginald (Lorna) Buffett and Max (Mary) Walters, mother and father-in-law, Ernest and Harriet Meade.

The family would like to send special thanks to Marie's caregiver, Lisa.

Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques on Wednesday, December 21 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, December 22 from 2:00 -4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Augustine’s Church with Deacon Herb Park officiating with interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery.
