Obituary of Leonard Hatcher

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leonard Hatcher announces his peacefully passing on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the age of 56 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Burnt Islands he was the son of Geraldine (nee Thorne) and the late Alexander Hatcher.
Leonard was a family man and had a heart of gold, he will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his loving wife of 32 years, Darlene, who has been by his side since they were 14, son, Scott (Karlie Hedley), daughter, Ashley (Cody Milo), poppy to Avery and Dimitri Milo and Riley Hatcher. Also left to mourn his mother, Geraldine Hatcher, brothers and sisters, Danny (Ellen) Hatcher, Derrick (Janice) Hatcher, Yvonne (Henry) Riles, Bonita (George) Burns, Tracey (Gordon) Rose, mother and father in law, Linda and John Keeping, brothers and sisters in laws, Gilda (Shawn) Keeping, Richard Keeping(Charmaine Hatcher), Susie (Harold) Organ, Eric (Eunice) Keeping and John (Dawn Harvey) Keeping, his dog Diesel, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Leonard was predeceased by his father, Alexander Hatcher, brother, Charles and niece, Lisa.
Specials thanks to the nurses and PSW of St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas for the care and compassion showed to Leonard over the last 6 months. Special thanks to the Alzheimer’s Society who have been a tremendous source of knowledge and support, especially Judy Fowlie or as Leonard would call her the 'herring choker'. Also thanks to Oceanside Funeral Home for helping make this difficult journey a little less difficult.
Family and friends may visit St. George’s Anglican Church in Burnt Islands on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 11:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Dianna Fry. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made graciously to the family. A celebration of life will be held in Dunnville at a later date. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca
