Obituary of Cavell Elizabeth Battiste

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cavell Elizabeth Battiste announce her passing on Wednesday, April 19th 2023 at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Center, at age 65, with her loving family by her side. Born in Port aux Basques, Cavell was the daughter of the late Frederick and Betty Battiste. Cavell leaves with many precious memories, her daughter, Natasha (Richard Strickland) Battiste, Patricia (Joe) Pearce and Betty Lynn Battiste, whom she loved as her own, and beloved granddaughter, Julia. She also will be sadly missed by brothers and sisters, Edgar (Beverly) Battiste, Joanna (Ronnie) Osmond, Jeanette Battiste, Dennis (Valerie) Battiste, Dorothy Wall, Esther Carter, and Tony (Donna) Battiste, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Cavell was predeceased by her sister, Christina (Roger) Osmond, brother in law, Ivan Wall, and special child, Jillian Parsons. The family would like to send special thanks to Cavell’s care workers, Sarah Pearce, Betty Keeping, and Janet Osmond, for their care and compassion. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 21st from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques, with a private family service to follow. In keeping with Cavell’s wishes, cremation will follow, with interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cavell can be made to the family.
