You were the beautiful melody in the rhythm of our lives. The music of your life lives on. It is with great sadness that the family of the late John (Jack) Garland Carroll announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center at the age of 79 with his loving family by his side. Jack was born on August 17th, 1943 in Deer Island to the late Garfield and Faith Carroll (nee Northcott). In 1953 the family resettled to Margaree where he met the love of his life, the late Mildred Carroll (nee Seymour). Jack leaves behind his beloved children, Naomi (Junior) Skinner, Shawn (Niki) Carroll, and Sharmaine (Steve) Strickland, the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Julia, Jenna, Chelsea, Katie, Jack and Alex. Jack also leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters, Marjorie Dominie, Seaward (Florence) Carroll, Reginald (Phyllis) Carroll, Patricia Reid, Dorman (Alma) Carroll, Marie (Wayne) Farrell, brother and sister in laws, Mary Carroll, Vera Bragg, Pearl Harvey, Gordon (Maggie) Seymour, Elsie (Wayne) Billard, John (Judy) Seymour, Shirley Seymour, and Angus MacDonald, large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends. Jack was predeceased by his parents, wife, two children, Junior and Graham, Parent in laws, Jack and Julia Seymour, brothers Ronald and Alvin, sister Mary (Earl) Walters, brother and sister in laws, Edgar Dominie, Aggie and Wesley Coleman, Naomi and Johnny Ball, Maude and Eric Tapp, Garfield Seymour, Melvin Bragg, Susanna MacDonald, Eli (Theresa) LeFrense and George Harvey. Jack was a fisherman in his younger years and then later in his life worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Clifford Sheave’s Construction until he retired. He loved fishing, berry picking, and hunting. He spent many hours on the rivers and in the country at Round Pond Camp with the “Round Pond Ramblers”. After he retired he took up building model boats and he took a lot of pride in his work. Jack’s passion for music and playing the accordion and harmonica was something he did most of his adult life and in his later years he enjoyed playing in church and at some community events. He was an exceptional cook with some saying he could make a rock taste good. Jack loved cooking for and spending time with his children and grandchildren which he considered the best gift he could have ever been given. We would like to thank dad’s wonderful home care workers, his long time worker Maggie who held a special place in his heart and we are so grateful for the genuine companionship you both had. Thank you to Dr. Blecher and Paula for your wonderful care over the years and to Craig, Darcy, Joy and the Pharmasave team at both Doyles and Port aux Basques. This last year has been very tough for dad and he spent quite a bit of time in the hospital and we would like to thank the nurses on acute care who had been so good to him. We are grateful to you all and we so loved watching you make him smile and laugh, it was not something he did enough of lately. In keeping with Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit St. Augustine’s Church on Friday, May 26th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 27th from 2:00 -4:00 & 7:00 -9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, May 28th at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon Herb Park and Rev.
