It is with very heavy hearts that we, the family of the late Edna Read announce her peaceful passing with her loving family by her side at the Dr. Charles L. She leaves behind with fond and precious memories: her loving husband of 59 years Eric; daughter: Kendra (Ronnie) Walters of Port aux Basques, NL; son: Christopher (Tara) Read of Corner Brook, NL; grandchildren: Erica Walters (Jonathan Kettle), Liam Walters (Britney Hart), Noah Read, Nathaniel Read, Mercedes Wood, and great-grandson: Ronin Kettle. Edna also leaves behind her sister: Lorraine (Bruce) Brodhagen, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron Huffman, Christine Francis, Marie Thorne, Claudine Matthews, Georgina (Gary) Guthrie, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Edna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a loving, kind, caring, selfless woman who loved spending time with her family, being faithful to her Lord and loved being a devout member of the St. James Anglican Church. She participated in all aspects of church life, including teaching Sunday school, the church choir, ACW, Alter guild, and Prayer group. She spent many hours at the church hall with her sewing friends and being an outgoing support figure for her community. She will be forever loved and missed by many. Edna was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond (Carol) Francis, Danny Francis, sister Brenda Huffman, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ruby Johnstone, Ambrose Matthews, and Raymond Thorne. The family would like to send thanks to the nurses and staff of Dr. Charles L. The kindness and support that was shown to both our mom and our dad, especially in the last week, will never be forgotten.
