Obituary of Betty Skinner

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Betty Lenora Skinner announces her passing on Monday, December 4th, 2023 at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 81, with her loving family by her side. Born in Margaree she was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Effie (nee Northcott) Billard.
Betty leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her children, Rowena (Gerard) Doyle, Junior (Naomi) Skinner, Cathy Skinner (Syd Mohrhardt), and Deanna (Dean) Spicer, grandchildren, Keshia (Adam) Ryan, Jordan Doyle, Julia and Jenna Skinner, Cathy, and Charlie Spicer, and two great grandchildren, Sawyer and Locklynn Ryan. She will be sadly missed by sisters and brother, Mary Carter, Millie (Herbert) Park, Julie (Hartley) Spencer,Margaret (Joe) Street, Brenda (Wilfred) Luedee, Pauline (Jim) Baggs, Johnny Billard, sisters and brothers in laws, Gloria Billard, Brenda Gillis, Clifford Coleman, Ruth Street, Ward (Alice) Skinner, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Skinner, sister, Gloria Coleman, brothers, Dick and Lloyd Billard, brothers-in-law, Alman Carter, Matthew Street.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving family and friends on Tuesday, December 5th from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 2:00- 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Funeral service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer Society or Canadian Cancer Society.
