Obituary of Elsie Sharmaine Billard

Please share a memory of Elsie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elsie Sharmaine Billard announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side at the age of 69. Born in Isle aux Morts, Elsie was the daughter of the late Jack and Julia (nee Walters) Seymour. Elsie leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her loving husband, Wayne of 50 years, her children, Dawn (Barry) Fudge, Wendy (Chris) Osmond, Myles (Trina) Billard and Shauna Billard, her grandchildren that she dearly loved, Haley, Emma, Brady, Kalan, Katie, Carter and Peter and her beloved dog Max. She will never be forgotten by her brothers, John (Judy) Seymour, Gordon (Maggie) Seymour, sisters, Vera Bragg, Pearl Harvey, and sister-in-laws and brothers-in-law, Shirley Seymour, Sheila (Dennis)King and Angus MacDonald, plus large circle of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. Elsie was predeceased by her, sisters, brother, and brother-in-laws, Mildred (Jack) Carroll, Melvin Bragg, Theresa (Eli) LeFrense, Naomi (Johnny) Ball, Aggie (Wesley) Coleman, George Harvey, Maude (Eric) Tapp, Susanne MacDonald, Garfield Seymour and mother and father in-law, Henry and Phyllis Billard. Elsie was truly “one of a kind” with her witty personality and caring heart. She had the ability to brighten anyone’s day and make them laugh with her humour. Once you met Elsie, it was impossible to forget her. She fiercely loved all of her family and her world revolved around them. She was selfless and always put the needs of her family first, as they were her world. Her family brought her immense joy and pride. She was a proud wife, mom, and grandmother who loved to share stories about her family to others. Joking with her family was one of her favourite things to do, even if it meant she was the one getting pranked or falling for a joke. She loved nothing more than having all of her family around her table for a meal. Her love for cleaning led her to be a successful entrepreneur with her business Elsie’s Cleaning. She took great pride in her work and was a perfectionist when it came to cleaning. Elsie deeply cared about the past and present establishments that she cleaned for. Elsie’s family would like to send their appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and physicians she had during her short stay at both Dr. Charles Legrow Hospital and Western Memorial Regional Hospital. The compassion and empathy that was showed will never be forgotten. Family and friends may visit St. Augustine’s Church on Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow on Monday, April 22nd at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Abbott officiating, with interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Flowers graciously accepted or donations in Elsie’s memory can be made to charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca “They may pass without us cleaning off a slate or having words left unspoken, but they go to a place where they know, feel our love, and intentions for them. They know everything now, because they have become everything again.”
