Obituary of James Crewe

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our lives were forever changed on Friday, April 19th, 2024, with the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, James Crewe at the age of 81. Born in Rose Blanche, Jim was the son of the late Stanley and Susie Crewe (nee Hatcher). Jim leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, his loving wife of 27 years, Beatrice (nee Patey), daughter, Cindy (Pete), sons, Robert and David, step children, Christa (Graham) and Colin (Melissa), grandchildren, Nolan, Mariah, Sarah, step grandchildren, Kallie, Kyle, Chloe, Brea, Dominic, step great grandchildren, Trent, Eva-Marie, and Alayah, and his pride and joy dog, Buckle. Jim will also be missed by his brother, Gary (Sheila) Crewe, sister, Suzanne (Steve) Miller, sister in law, Sandra (Barry) Spencer, mother in law, Marjorie Patey, his favorite employees, Patti Fraser and Jeremie Matthews, life long friend Lew Skinner, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Susie Crewe, and his father in law, Ralph Patey. Jim was a long time businessman in Port aux Basques. His passions in life were his family and friends, music, and his precious dog, Buckle. He loved people coming into the store and back to his office for a chat and a smoke. Jim was a founding and original member of the Ducats for many years and loved every minute of it. He loved to tell stories of the Ducats when they were travelling on the road, his face would just light up. The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas, Angie, and the nurses and staff of Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Center, and a big thank you to Barry Musseau for being with Jim during his time of need. Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home on Monday, April 22nd from 2:00-4:00 P.M and 7:00-9:00 P.M and Tuesday, April 23rd from 2:00-4:00 P.M and 7:00-9:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 24th at 2:00 P.M from St. James Anglican Church, with Rev. Jane Allen officiating. In keeping with Jims wishes, cremation will follow with interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Center or St. James Anglican Church Preservation Campaign. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.com
