It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joan Moore announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center at the age of 86, with her loving family by her side. Born in Burgeo, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Dinah (nee Stewart) Matthews and stepdaughter of the late Lott Cossar of Burgeo.

With loving and precious memories Joan leaves behind her loving sons, Larry Moore (Sandra) and Rick Moore (Elsie), special nephew, who was more like her son, Stuart Young, her grandchildren, Ryan (Ayla), Chad (Lisa) and Sarah (Michael) Flynn, her pride and joy her precious great grandchildren, Ryla and Ella. She will never be forgotten by her sister, Cora and brother-in-law, Bruce Moore, close friends, Charlie Samson and Goldie Hardy, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Joan moved from Burgeo as a young woman to teach school in Port aux Basques and Codroy. She met Jim Moore of Codroy who she was happily married to for 53 years until his death in 2009. She will be remembered for her love of life, especially the times with her friends and family and the opportunity to have a dance.

Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Jim, brother, Lou and sisters, Melida, Ruby and Mary, brothers and sisters in-laws.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving family and friends at Holy Trinity Anglican Church; Codroy on Sunday, July 7th from 2:00 -4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Monday, July 8th at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy, with Rev. George Critchell and Mr. Josh Haggstrom officiating, interment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Codroy. Flowers accepted or donation in Joan’s memory can be made to the Holy Trinity Church.
