Obituary
Obituary of Sylvia Skeard
Please share a memory of Sylvia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sylvia Skeard announces her peaceful passing on Monday, November 4th, 2024, at Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Center at the age of 81, with her loving family by her side. Born in Port aux Basques, she was the daughter of the late Airman and Rita (nee Stone) Sheaves.
With loving and precious memories Sylvia leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years, Chap, her children, Cathy Moore, Michelle (Glen) Deveau, Wendy Skeard (Murray Pickrem), her grandchildren, Ryan (Ayla) Moore, Chad Moore (Lisa Farrell), Sarah (Michael) Flynn, Ryley (Amanda) Pickrem, Madyson Pickrem (David Wilson), great-granddaughters, Ryla and Ella Moore. She will never be forgotten by her brother, Keith (Christine) Sheaves, sister, Madelyn (George) Lomond, aunt, Bernice (Albert) Osmond, brothers and sisters in law, Glen (Joyce) Skeard, Ray Meade, Noreen (Jerry) Osika, Debbie (Max) Piercey, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Slyvia was predeceased by her parents, and sister-in-law Patricia Meade.
Sylvia loved watching her patio for visiting birds, caring for the visiting stray cats, walking on Searston beach, and spending time with friends. But, without a doubt, her greatest joy was the frequent visits and sleepovers with her great grandchildren. We love you all the bunches in the world, and then some.
In keeping with Sylvia’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will be accepting family and friends on Thursday, November 7th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. There will be a funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m, with Father Prakash officiating. Donation in Sylvia’s memory can be graciously made to the Salvation Army Food Bank or Shadow Cat Rescue. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca
