Obituary of Alex James Hodder

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Alex Hodder announces his passing on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Dr, Charles LeGrow Centre with his loving family by his side at the age of 76. Born in Margaree, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (nee Patey) Hodder. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving wife of 53 years, Cedella  (nee Warren) Hodder, his daughter, Michelle Hodder (Leon Lawrence) and son, Kevin (Joy) Hodder,  granddaughter, Mikyla Hodder-Lawrence and  grandson, Kevin Hodder, brothers and sisters, Ann Hodder, Bety Hodder (Sid Roberts), Marie Hodder, Clayton (Shirley) Hodder, Eric (Alma) Hodder, Bernice Hodder (Don Button), Wilson Hodder (Lillian Gilliam), Maisie (Robert) Bushell and Wayne (Bonnie) Hodder, sisters and brothers in law, Elizabeth Hodder, Myrtle Warren, Frederick Carter, Stewart Short and Carson (Maisie) Warren, and a close circle of his garage friends, nieces, nephews and family.   He was predeceased by brother, Clarence Hodder, brother in law, Thomas Warren, sisters-in-laws, Jane Carter and Virginia Short. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26^th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques, NL and Wednesday, November 27^th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at St. Augustine Church, Margaree. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 28^th at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Nathan Culter. In keeping with Alex’s wishes cremation to follow and a graveside service will be held on Friday, November 29^th at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Haven Cemetery with Rev. Nathan Culter officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Charity of One’s Choice.  The family entrusted the arrangements to Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques, 695-7010.
