To the family of John Neville Windham Harries his sister Ann and beloved friends..
John was a remarkable man who was a blessing and an inspiration to so many.
I met John on line in March 2002 when he was teaching in Oman
At the time I was in California and we planned to meet in Europe, where I am from
But regretfully our meeting did not happen.
Over the 14 years that followed John and I had few written exchanges, but his light never left me .
In December 2016, I was overjoyed with John suggestions to meet in Grand Falls
Sorrowfully, that meeting did not go through as well as many things unsaid.
John, your light will always be in my heart. Even though we did not meet on this earth you played a huge part in my life and always will.
Thank you for what you've taught me about: grief, longing, love and compassion.
Until the hand of God grands us to meet again:

I met John at Joe's Café when we discovered we were neighbours. We had many lunches together with very interesting conversations and many laughs. John was the beginning force that started the committee to put a War Memorial in the Codroy
Valley and did much work to see that it was completed - thank you John. He was a very private person, but loved it when
people shared meals with him. My condolences to John's family and friends.

I had the pleasure to meet John several times repairing his computer. He loved Newfoundland and its people. He was a very well spoken and educated man from across the pond has he told me. He also was a avid leafs fan like myself. He will be missed.

When I first moved to Port aux Basques as Park Officer JT Cheeseman Park I got to know John as the manager at - I believe - the Gateway, who were responsible for regional economic development.
John was instrumental in having the Smokey Cape Walking Fitness Trail at the Park become a reality. A man with a vision and a gent who worked hard to improve the region, a love of cool cars and good conversation.
A pleasure to have gotten to know him and enjoy his company.

I worked with John on the board of the Development Association. He was very passionate about getting the cenotaph built and I'm glad to see he saw it to completion. I always enjoyed our chats. He will be remembered.
