Obituary of Daphne Croucher

Please share a memory of Daphne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to our loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, Daphne Vianne Ruth, after a short, but fierce battle with cancer. Daphne passed peacefully away, at Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre, on November 19, 2020 with her loving family by her side. Left with treasured memories, her devoted husband of 38 years, Darryl; beloved daughter, Danita (Donnie), and grandchildren, Liam and Isla, who were the lights of “Nanny Daphne’s” life. Also left to mourn: mother, Ethel, and mother-in-law, Evelyn; sisters, Beverly (Calvin), Claudine (Bill), Darlene (Greg), Cynthia (Norton), Janice (Keith), Denise (Johnny), and Roselyn (Darrell); brothers, Alvin (Coreen), Woody (Evelyn), and Melton (Wanda); sisters-in-law, Velda (Marvin), and Artina (Perry); brothers-in-law, Max, and Jason (Leona), and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Angus W. Keeping and father-in-law, Austin Keeping. Daphne was a force to be reckoned with; a strong, beautiful soul, who blessed the lives of everyone she encountered. Always a leader, or “boss,” as she often reminded us of. She lived her life to the fullest, loved her role as a stewardess with Marine Atlantic, and delighted in spending time with family and friends. A lover of walking, traveling, and snowshoeing, seldom were there idle moments in Daphne’s days. She was also a talented seamstress, capable of creating the most beautiful designs. She will be forever loved and missed. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Matt Ryan and Dr. Cathy Popadiuk. You fought as hard for Daphne as she did for herself. Also thanks to Dr. Patti Power and Dr. David Blecher. To the nurses of Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre, who cared for Daphne in her final days, you are truly earth’s angels and your compassion is appreciated beyond words. Cremation has taken place as per Daphne’s wishes. The family will receive visitors at Oceanside Funeral Home,23 Read Street, Port-aux-Basques, on Sunday, November 22, from 2:00 -9:00 pm.
