It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Leverne B. Meade announced her passing on March 8th at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center with her loving family by her side at the age of 76. Born in Channel-Port aux Basques, Leverne was the daughter of late Gordon and Elsie Belle Keeping. Leverne was predeceased by her husband, Horace, mother and father in law, Charles and Selina Meade, sisters, Juanita, Dulcie and Sharon, brother, David, sister-in-law, Margaret, step-daughter, Darlene Hiltz, son-in-law, Bruce Taverner ,brother-in-laws, Bruce Meade, Lorne Meade and Charles Meade, and nephews, Micheal and Ryan. “A mom’s hugs last long after she lets go.” She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her children, Todd (Penny) of Port aux Basques, Roxanne (Larry) of Oakville, Ontario, Derrick (Tanya) of LeDuc, Alberta, Laura (Henry) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan , Joan Taverner, of Cape Ray, Calvin (Joyce) Meade of Port aux Basques, son-in-law John, and her pride and joy her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Forever missed by, brothers and sisters, Roderick Keeping , Winston (Anne), Roy (Norma), Richard (Katherine),Melvin (Faye), Loretta (Greg), Kevin Keeping, Venita (Jerome), and Jocelyn (Rob) Buckham, brother-in-law, Robert (Sally) Seaward, sister-in-laws, Hazel Murphy and Bernice King and brother-in-law, Irvin Meade and large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Leverne was an extraordinary woman. She was a successful business lady while raising her family. In her spare time she indulged in her love of quilting, gardening and golfing. Leverne was a devoted mother and grandmother. A loving sister, Aunt and loyal friend to many. “Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories” Special thanks to her homecare workers. Dr. Thomas and the wonderful nurses and staff at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Oceanside Funeral Home, in keeping with the Covid restrictions, a private family viewing and funeral service was held. In lieu of flowers donations in Leverne’s memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice or the Salvation Army Church. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca
